TL;DR;

Dolores, Dreamland, game, magic, reality, slow developing clusterf...

 Very short story:

Dolores thinks she is a witch as she learns magic after a visit to Dreamland and develops a split persona. However her alter ego fits too well with a character from the game and other game characters appear in the real world.

 Summary:

Dolores lives in a possible parallel world and is a happy 18th years old student.

She loves games and thus is an ardent visitor of Dreamland, the internet game portal. She could of course not miss the greatest and most popular game, Mephisto's World a distributed multiplayer online game with the hard-core variant building a magic world, as close as possible to a real world.

However this is no story about the game or a game like system. This is the story of Dolores.

Something happens, the game runs wild (game out of order message is issued) and cannot be fixed fast.

After playing the last version Dolores discovers that she can spell in real life, as she did in the game. Afraid and cautious she keeps the information (mostly) for herself.

Things get more and more complicated and end up bringing magic to the real world whilst the game is being blacklisted.

What happened? Why do game characters invade the real world? Who is using the happening for their advantage? What is going on?

If the story sounds interesting you can follow Dolores in her life's quest herewith.

 Game related info:

In Mephisto's world characters are growing slowly over the years, in the hard-core variant which is the most played and relevant for the story, death is definitive unless one takes some measures to ensure resurrection like a friendly character with a class that allows resurrection or a bonus with the ethereals of the world, angel like creatures that could partially restore a character or NPC but with some costs, things not readily available for most low levels.

The new version of the game eliminates standard quests replacing them with a variety of quests born out of the world's day to day life, Mephisto's world where magic meets reality!

The hard-core version of the game develops slowly over the years, only the seed and startup setup took many months before players were allowed in. The game remains consistent with itself, theoretically there is no limit for levels, however difficulty is increased with each level, players over level 90 are considered legendary none over 98 yet. Dolores has a high level assassin avatar Calamity Lara, shortname Cala, level 94.

In the hard core variant everything is possible, as in real life, with limited protection in neutral towns where magic attacks are made impossible by the magic of the silver shrines. It is a rough world with barons and kings, serfs and slaves, thieves and hardworking people, republics, kingdoms, empires, free tribes and more.

 A message to potential reader:

It's a story I wrote many years ago and was only 'gathering dust' on my pc's disk so why not publish it? I had a lot of fun writing it and hope the readers will enjoy it too.

Glad to receive some feedback and any ideas to make it better.

I plan updates on a weekly basis at least 3 times a week, it needs some editing and rework :(
