Kieran Moonfyre was the scion of a large clan in the city of Purple Grove, on the outskirts of the small and moribund Goldendawn Principality, in the Scarlet Star Empire. While the city of Purple Grove could be considered small and backwater, the scenic views and the unique magical resource, Purple Fern, that can only be found in its surrounding forest mean it gets a fair share of traffic from the lower level Practitioners. Indeed, this is a world, known as Aenus, where magic thrives and individuals can achieve greatness and power, by putting enough effort and being blessed with enough talent. However, magic comes with its own dangers, not the least of which are the Magic beasts that roam the dark and deep forests, the vast oceans and the blue sky. In this land of mystical wonders, Kieran is going to suffer from unbearable pain, experience unbounded happiness and achieve insurmountable power. But in Magic, everything comes at a corresponding price, and the price he must pay might be more than he's willing...
