Hydraulic powers suits, laser weaponry, Minute-Rice... nothing seems impossible in this day and age. As tech advanced, so too did crimianl elements... from petty cyberthiefs and hackers to technologically empowered supervillans of likes never seen before, capable of actaully destroying the world. Of course, Good Guys™ rose up to meet the challenge, employing the same tech for thir own do-goodery. For years, the world's been locked in an age of wonder and amazing tales of heros vs not-so-heros... and its gotten sort of boring, to be entirely honest.
