Augmented is an idea spawned by the global Covid-19 pandemic crisis set against the appalling levels of corruption of the Republicans in the U.S. Congress and White House, as well as the inconceivable and even malicious incompetence of the orange menace holding the office of President. The setting is a world 100 years in the future settling out from global warming. It is a world past apocalyptic level crises, but not a traditional post-apocalyptic story told in a devastated wasteland. Instead it asks what our society looks like having largely survived intact and adapted to new climate and political realities.

This is a first effort at creating a story with the potential to span multiple novels in a universe with recognizable connections to our own. It is an inspiration influenced by recently reading a lot of litRPG and GameLit, as well as a long appreciation of the fantasy and sci-fi genres.

As my 1st attempt at writing at this level, I am interested in all manner of feedback. Is the story fun and engaging? Did I miss any typos or grammatical errors? Does a given character succeed or fall flat? As the story fleshes out, what directions seem most promising to explore as well as which ones would be better abandoned? There is intention in the plot and characters, but also many, many questions. As the story develops, I hope for help refining that intention, answering the questions, but also raising new ones to keep it organic and not a set-piece.

Note: My plan is to post chapters as their drafts are completed, not necessarily in the order they are intended to appear in a finally assembled book. While I'm not positive, this could influence the perceived context and impact of different story elements.
