The Backrooms, a phenomenon that dictates the existence of a never-ending set of rooms and levels located somewhere within this world. The only way to enter this realm is by accidentally "no-clipping" through an object in reality. However, the Backrooms have changed. Over the many years since its creation, creatures known as Monarchs have inhabited the Backrooms. These creatures normally only exist in one's mind, manifesting as psychosis, hallucinations, imaginary friends, and most of the time, they have no hold over the human mind. But in the backrooms, they are able to physically manifest and even wield strange supernatural powers. Here, they create entities and lend chosen survivors a portion of their power and pit them against eachother in an attempt to control the backrooms as a whole. None of this matters, however, to Kayne, a highschool student running late for a DnD session. At least, not until he no-clips into the ground and gets caught up in the Monarchs' sick games. Fortunately for him, Kayne is a huge nerd of the Backrooms and a self-proclaimed connoisseur. Though he has no knowledge of the Monarchs and their powers, surely his extensive knowledge of the Backrooms itself would be enough for him to survive, right?

I put "with a twist" in the title since the "system" though the concept stays the same, works a bit differently. Namely, there won't be heavy grinding (as the setting does not accommodate for it), there won't be any quest given by the system, the MC won't be one of those god-pawns who's only goal is to complete the seemingly never-ending god-given quests and get stronger with no personal goals, and other stuff you'll find out by reading.
