In a land where Gods are real and an all-powerful theocracy is the last hope for mankind, you follow in the footsteps of Brother Richard Anscham: a troubled young priest, the former leader of the Church of Mercy, and the foremost researcher of the Catalyst.

In a successful quest to obtain a holy Relic, Brother Anscham rescued a tremendous number of lost souls from deeply below the ruins that cover the earth. However, the curative properties of this Relic could not truly mend his wounds. To make matters worse, the help that he sought from the Church of Flesh did nothing to soothe his shattered mental and physical condition.

Richard may have lost his title and lands, but the four months of his self-imposed isolation has come to an end, and his resolve has never been stronger. There is a civil war raging in the capital city, instigated by none other than the men and women that Brother Anscham saved. King Magnus the Merciful will not stand for watching Calunoth burn, and has called on his renegade priest to put a stop to the carnage by any means necessary.

As this is an archive of Catalyst Quest (an interactive, collaborative story), the prompts that were included with the original run of the story have been stripped, and the story is presented like a traditional novel for your reading convenience. Please note that this is my oldest writing (this was some of the first fiction I ever wrote, and is over three years old)!
