Eaven and Inferna had been in constant war.

50 years ago, the Saint Maiden of Eaven had proposed a peace treaty with the Lord of Inferna in hopes to finally end the war. The Lord of Inferna attacked and killed the Saint Maiden instead finally sealing all options for a peaceful end for the war.

Inferna started taking a passive take to the war after that and moved to increase and strengthen their defenses instead of invading Eaven. It was believed that the Lord of Inferna had suffered a fatal injury when he attacked the Saint Maiden. There were even rumors that Inferna was currently lordless and thus had bolstered their defenses while waiting for a new lord to rise and take the throne.

Now, heroes arise as individuals join the fray in an attempt to finally bring down Inferna, and kill its Lord if he was still alive.
