Jem is your perfectly average British university student. He likes skipping lectures, hanging out with friends and getting black-out drunk. Sometimes alone, at the club on a Wednesday morning. (Okay so maybe not completely average.)

The problem is that life seems to be conspiring against him but only in the most devious ways. Sort of like if someone called you, 'unconventionally attractive' and meant it as a compliment. They mean it in a nice way, so you can't really get mad? And if you do, it won't make you look good. But you absolutely are mad.

He lost his Earthly life, his feet, his ability to get into a bar, his ability to get tipsy(let alone drunk) and his free time? And technically his life was better for it? Incredibly backhanded.

At least there was magic now.

Join Jem in his eventful life as he muddles through it, absolutely nothing makes any sense.

Main things to know before you go in:-There are queer characters in here, if that's a dealbreaker for you probably don't start reading I guess.

-This story is going for lighthearted and fun. It by design isn't a super serious story where we can expect bad things to keep happening to the characters. They aren't devoid of consequences, nor are they free from sadness, but don't go in anticipating long marches of trauma and depression.

-Not certain of the exact tags that are going to stick? Some may be more appropriate at certain times than others. (will try to make sure they are relevant) (I may also be technically being more cautious with the CW tags than strictly necessary, but everyone has different thresholds for stuff and wanted to be on the safe side)

-Don't assume pirates, I mean I know the name is what it is but I don't even know if we'll see pirates yet

~ Enjoy

Honestly, this is a bit of an afterthought, but if you can try to keep criticism constructive. If you just don't like something that is what it is, but if you feel like the way something is done is bad and are hoping that the approach might be modified going forward then civil comments are a lot easier to properly engage with ^_^

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Welp that's the plan anyway.
