The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Challenge Zones, has been exploited too much by the mortals.

The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely.

The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced doom, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Now he is asked for a repeat performance in a world that he knows nothing about…

But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be.

Originally this was planned as the second story set in the Sphere, but I decided to switch the order to participate with it in the March Madness 2019. The other story about Shaleen the Wanderer will follow later, but I need to mention this because there are a few references that will only make sense after you read the other story.

You'll also learn that there are a few differences between how the Challenge Zones of the Sphere work and how the usual Dungeon Core stories function. Additionally being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive.

And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author's hint).

Additionally, this story will have an end – it's difficult to continue a dungeon story beyond the moment the dungeon is completely build and operational. And I really don't like story twists where the next-level-superhero is invented by the author just to repeat the same fights again and again. A cow can't be milked after it is a dried skeleton, not even in a dungeon.

It will not be a short story however, there are quite a number of surprises planned even without considering the strange effects of the Sphere.

Current Status as of 9 th march 2019:

Interlude 1 (short) and Chapter 6 (long) uploaded and scheduled SO/MO, but still require work on the tables

Outline for the rest of Arc 1 and Arc 2. Hope to have 10-15 chapters out by the end of the event (end of march 2019).

https://www.royalroad.com/forums/thread/102521?page=1

description

The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals.

Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author's hint).

This story will have an end – it's difficult to continue a dungeon story beyond the moment the dungeon is completely build and operational.

The links to the other stories about the Sphere are:

Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (not yet started)

Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed)

Current Status will always be reported in the first (status) chapter, the story begins in the second publication line. Expect publication each Monday, average 2K-3K words per release/week
