<p>The entire multiverse broke down, no one knows whose fault it was. Strange beings from the higher-energy planes descended to help, but the gods and kings were hesitant to accept their aid. In the end, a compromise was made, and the mortal and immortal powers-that-be of the multiverse were given a kit they could use to save themselves. Their bungled attempts to restore what was lost, while also trying to grab benefits for themselves, resulted in the messy and chaotic realm known as Nebbia, the grand nebula.</p> <p>*******************************</p> <p>Several million years later, life in the Nebula is limping along well enough. Going by the ancient records, one could argue that things are almost back to normal.</p> <p>There are monsters, but they are as much a resource as they are a menace. There is magic, but it's as much a danger as it is a vital source of power. People still sh*t post on the internet. Corporations still steal all your information. Politics are just as nonsensical even with the addition of ritualistic blood duels and the involvement of physical gods.</p> <p>Amidst all this, Jesse Ellington is a normal guy just trying to get by. He has some baggage, but who doesn't. He has a cheat, but honestly, those are almost kind of common nowadays. He may, or may not, be a larval eidolon abandoned by his mortal father and eldritch mother, but it's not like he's hurting anybody, and honestly, the nebula is a little too messed up a place for anyone to care that much.</p>
