<p>Think your life is tough? Try taking your dog for a walk in just a loincloth.</p> <p>The instant he opened the chest that looked like it fell straight off the Game Of Thrones set, Chad's reality was turned upside down.</p> <p>His home city has vanished, replaced by a strange fantasy world. Fantastical creatures chase him. His seven-pound Chihuahua, Slash, can speak and seems to enjoy using his potty mouth. And a game's AI is talking to him, or he's suddenly hearing voices. Neither is an attractive option.</p> <p>When they discover they've been transported into a survivalist fantasy game, they realize the clock is ticking. Too much to do and not enough time to do it all. Gather resources, build a camp, fight fantasy creatures, and form alliances just to make it another day.</p> <p>But there's no rest for the weary.</p> <p>In the military, Chad saw enough violence and decided long ago that he was done with it. Darkworld has other plans. The game's AI seems to be pushing players to compete against and even kill one another in the ultimate game of survival. To make matters worse, game designers have allowed outsiders to pay to hunt players. Making a sport out of murder? In Darkworld, anything goes.</p> <p>Chad and Slash find themselves confronting death at every turn.</p> <p>In a world where even allies could become enemies, Chad is going to have to become what he doesn't want to be just to make it out of Darkworld alive.</p> <p>This is a work in progress. Major editing will be done after the book is complete. Expect typos and imperfections--some of those make it into my 20+ books already out in the world. No one is perfect after all. Thank you! - Paul</p> <p>General Information:</p> <p>Chad The Impaler is a litrpg/gamelit survivalist series. The first two books will be written in 2023. The series has heavy survivalist elements, inspired by games throughout my life that put characters in bare environments from which they had to gather resources, build camps, weapons, and even kingdoms. Stats and progression are part of the characters' journeys. The stats are part of the story, but those who don't care to read them will not lose out on the story. Humor is important. Even though these characters have had everything taken away from them and find themselves in a new, austere reality, there is always space for humor (because real life is serious and stressful enough, isn't it?).
