Jack and Jill have spent every moment of their lives together, growing up through thick and thin and barrelling past any obstacles that threaten to tear them apart. There's only one problem the two haven't been able to solve: Jill isn't real. Detained in a religious complex designed to heal the mentally unstable, Jack spends his days talking to the sister he sees in his head and listening to the stories of the other patients. When disaster strikes the complex, he wakes up forty years earlier in his childhood body... only to discover that he doesn't exist in this world and never has. His parents only ever had one child.

Reincarnated into a fantastical world where magic and superhumans run rampant, Jack and Jill soon discover their old friends are missing or dead. Guided by the advice of a dying companion, the twins flee from an enemy intent on killing them. Hunted by unknown forces and risking death at every turn, they struggle to solve the mystery behind this strange new world and return to the Earth they once knew.
