The three goblins that Giancarlo shoved together into Division Five couldn't be more different. Arn is brash and violent, Roach is stoic and capable, and Griff is keen-eyed and cynical. They don't make a perfect match. When they are violently cast out of the army they are forced to make their own way in a world that doesn't like or trust their kind.

They decide they can make it as heroes, so long as "heroes" means they don't really have to change. After all, isn't a hero someone who kills bad guys, and a villain kills the good guys?

Through the eyes of the different denizens of their world, we learn how the image of Arn, Griff, and Roach change over time, and see if they can truly become the heroes they are pretending to be, at least to those who need them most.
