Every magical world in the multiverse produces magical waste, and every world needs a solution to deal with said waste. When one world decides to dump their magical garbage on Earth, it has serious side effects that cause havoc and destruction for all. The world is pushed centuries back in developmental time in one night, and the toll is staggering. People revert to their baser instincts to survive, and to make things worse, races from other dimensions treat Earth as a treasure hunting ground, slave farm, or worse.

Enter Jake Channing, amateur blacksmith. His talents are longer anachronistic; he's now one of the few people on Earth with useful skills. Hammer and steel are his trade, and he's good at it. Metal isn't what it used to be, though, and Jake has a lot to learn about magic, monsters and making a new life in a world suddenly upended.
