Meg doesn't believe in the old folklore, until one night when she witnesses a massacre of soldiers. Redcaps, creatures who were once men, kill whoever they can to keep their caps saturated with blood. Meg is nearly murdered herself before Nick, the leader of the redcaps spares her. She doesn't understand why, not when he's killed so many others. But the more she learns about him and his band, the more she realizes they aren't what they seem.

A powerful undead sorcerer seeks revenge against the clans who denied him the throne in life--Meg's family is one of them, and unless she can convince Nick to face the demons of his past, the curse of the redcaps may become the curse of the kingdom.

*** I've always been fascinated with the folklore of the redcaps and wondered what some of the twists their tale might take. What if they were normal men before they were cursed? What if one of them was the son of the sorcerer who cursed them? And so it begins… Meg has a story all her own as she is on the run from her past and only in helping Nick will she be able to overcome her own fears.
