After a hivemind alien species suddenly appears and destroys everything in its way, the Vakutrai sector is left in total ruin. People try to flee the growing threat as all major colonies and stations are lost, but gradually it becomes clear that nothing can stop the tide of creatures, as it sweeps the sector. The survivors try to build new lives in the ruins of the old world the aliens have overlooked, but resources are scarce, and life in space is hard to sustain.

Lissia finds herself exiled from her old home, the station Haven. This, combined with the break-up with her girlfriend Gabriella, has left her drifting from place to place. But life is hard salvaging alone, and even though she might not be able to admit it to herself, Lissia misses the life she had on Haven. So when a 'chance encounter' brings her and Gabriella back together, she quickly realizes that to face this new world, she can't do it alone.
