Sunwhisper is an artificial human, born on a journey from another universe. His mechanoborg fathers designed him to be different from themselves, better able to adapt to the society they expected to find, as well as to understand and negotiate with humans.

When the exploration team is wiped out by a single old cultivator, Sunwhisper is left to find his place as a stranger in a callous world. He was born with a System meant to help him develop quickly to complete his people's mission, to find the source of all magic and bring it back with him to save their dying world. But he doesn't understand the System in its entirety yet, particularly why he was given a statistic none of his fathers possessed, EQ.
