A helicopter parent, her genius kid, a genderless baby AI, it's cranky inventor and quantum horror fighting marine walk into a novel.

With different motivations each agrees to join a years long journey pushing the boundaries of human exploration. For the mother and daughter, the journey means escaping corporate agents intent on kidnapping the young prodigy. For the scientist and AI, it means fulfilling a promise. And for the marine, it means supporting her found family and maybe stepping back from the horrors of her profession.

Leading the expedition is an information merchant, bent on finding the home of the lone alien race humanity has encountered. They'll need every advantage to follow the centuries old breadcrumb trail, plus a bit of luck. But escaping human greed and politics may be more difficult than any journey through the stars.
