The tribes of Norskir have awakened. The Age of Sundering is coming. Prophecies are told, weapons are sharpened, and sacrifices are prepared, for the time will soon come when the children of the Dark Gods to conquer the soft lands to the south, ruled by soft gods. A nameless village - one of many - is raided and put to the torch, its warriors slaughtered and the survivors bound in ropes and dragged to Blood Hall to be sacrificed to the gods.

Valka Ragnarsdottir, one of the Blessed, is among those who are taken; an empyrean child born beneath the gaze of the bloodthirsty gods of Norskir, Valka has the chance to grow in power, provided - of course - that she succeeds in the challenges of the gods and proves sufficiently entertaining. Her journey, destined for legend and song, will take her against blistering cold wastelands, hordes of bloodthirsty monsters, immortal Demi-Gods, and fellow Blessed.
