Rowan Calder, a former field medic in the trenches of Garravon, is ready to leave the Great War behind him. But grief is persistent, reminding him of all those he couldn't save, and not only that--ever since the war ended, fragments of terrible futures that sometimes come true have haunted his dreams alongside old memories.

The Mages College of Sanfira, a university dedicated to the arts of Enchanting, Alchemy, and most importantly to Rowan, Divination, may teach him to make sense of these fragments, and perhaps put an end to them. Then, he might find a peace eludes most everyone in the wake of the War, and be able to reassemble himself into the person he was before he lost himself to the trenches.

When some of his fellow classmates begin to go missing, though, Rowan cannot stand idly by. He soon finds his that his Visions may be the only key to understanding both the ominous magic at play, and the person he's meant to become. The more he uncovers, though, the more he realizes that his future is far from fixed, and that the past never truly dies-the Great War may not be over after all...
