After finally coming to peace with their nature, Humanity is confronted by their own lack of war capability in the form of an alien invasion. After a near-complete loss, the nature of the things that come to the rescue is probably the most believable. The events of the war would become known as emergence and would lead to the changing of humanity forever more.
