"Humanity never knew defeat.....Until today"

Taking all of Esports by storm, the world of the gaming phenomenon known as 'CyberGrounds' was where Akio Nakamura made a name for himself. Working his way up the ladder, one outplay at a time, his final goal of reaching that illusive rank of Immortal was only cut short by the game's sudden disappearance.

Reintroduced a few years later, transitioning from mouse and keyboard to being the world's first VRMMO Esport, Akio was one amongst most of the world who bought into it's promise. However, that promise happened to be smoke and mirrors as now him and millions of other players are trapped in a death game designed to bring out the worst in humanity, and where dying in-game means the same in reality as well. Only way to escape? Reach Immortal Rank.

Finding himself in this cruel twist of fate, Akio's journey to escape the confines of Arc Sanctuary begins, but he soon finds out that nothing is the same as it used to be...even old bonds that he once thought that could never be tainted.

Author's Note: There is a little bit of everything here, but its mainly a believable take on a death game scenario which delves deeper into the more psychological aspects of characters involved while also having a bigger mystery developing in the background. The first few chapters are shorter than the rest as it is mostly setting up the narrative and the characters

This story will also contain a lot of violence with a touch of gore, and a lot of traumatizing content so, read at your own risk.

Chapters are fairly long so updates will follow weekly every Friday, Saturday or Sunday.... but any and all feedback will be appreciated to make that process much faster.
