Description: [edit] [history]

Three heroes. Six kingdoms. An infinite universe.

The world of Io has entered the age of technology: Horse-drawn carriages are ridden alongside steam-powered vehicles, ships traverse the skies as much as they do the seas, and hulking golems make back-breaking labor significantly easier. Magic, religion, and science work together to make the world a better place. But one day, chaos ensues when countless magical stones are discovered around the world, hatching one sinister plot after another.

Meet Lenoria Tsukino, a young genius guided by Corvus; Katherine, or Kat for short, a traveling catfolk druid guided by the Andromeda Nebula; and Nathan Powers, a researcher guided by the mischievous spirit of Vulpecula on the road to discovery. These three people from different corners of the world soon become involved in a plot that takes them across the world and beyond...

A Quest for the Stars, or Quest for short, is a story that is based on the setting of my long-running homebrew D&D 3.5e/Pathfinder 1e hybrid campaign and uses names and bits from the lore of both systems. Quest is my answer to the common statement "The DM should just write a novel." Well, here we are! Chapters are released weekly on Saturdays and range between 2000-4000+ words.

What to expect:

-Rundown of game mechanics placed under spoilers for those who want to read the nitty gritty details of combat without interrupting the flow of the story for those who want to avoid them. Combat is simulated but the outcome is predetermined.

-Characters from various classes and races, though humans (as always) are the most common.

-No smut.

-Common anime tropes and the subversion of some anime tropes.

-The Aesop trope.

-Some satire.

-Comedy to drama, drama to comedy, tabletop tomfoolery, romance to WTFery, and some horror.

-An epic fantasy ranging from a decently experienced level to crossing the boundary beyond mortal limits (5th level to 20th level and beyond).
