The year is 2582. Humanity has reached the stars. The fleets of the United Nations Navy have won three separate contact wars with alien lifeforms., yet a rebellion exists among the colonies. These revolutionaries pose no real threat to the United Nations of Earth, yet public opinion of the war is low.

Valkyrie is the short story of Cara, an Ensign in the UNN and a public affairs officer. She is sent on an assignment to the *Spitfire*, a frigate supporting a UNN base on the colony of Gliese-667 Cc, to gather information from members of the fleet and gauge their general opinion of the war. What she experiences, however, is the grim reality that even limited conflict offers.
